An eccentric couple completely unprepared for parenthood brings home a baby boy destined for years of therapy after they choose to name him Daisy and hire a wacky, warped nanny to care for him. A clueless school principal only adds to the youngster's confusion, which leads to a darkly comic search for his identity as he nears adulthood. Theatre Artists Studio stages this wickedly funny satire from famed playwright Christopher Durang, who won a 2013 Tony Award for his latest Broadway hit, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The theater is tucked away at the back of a small mall with entry from a back street, somewhat difficult to find. Staff was welcoming and seats were excellent.
The producer came on stage to announce that it was a 90-minute production with NO intermission... and to use the 'facilities' before it started!
Very intense and well-acted production, somewhat depressing, but perfect for what it was. We would not count it as a 'favorite' but we were impressed with the cast and the venue.
This play contains adult themes and is recommended for mature audiences only.
