Seattle Musical Theatre SummerStock gives kids the opportunity to learn auditioning, acting, singing and dancing techniques, while also learning crucial life skills, which build confidence, self discipline and friendships. Middle school students will rehearse and then perform the fantasy-filled Broadway musical Seussical: The Musical. The mischievous Cat in the Hat joins a cast of everyone's favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, the Whos of Whoville and the grouchy Grinch, to bring the author's cherished tales to life on stage. The more intensive high school class introduces students to the Best of Broadway. Performers will present songs and scenes from four award-winning musicals, including The Phantom Of The Opera, West Side Story, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Spring Awakening. Written on Mar 07 2012SMT did a fantastic job of presenting the Broadway Hit as it was meant to be. Community theaters will often cut scenes due to the lack of available talent, but SMT performed the full show. Christine Riippi was hilarious as the girl who couldn't sing and Brandt Sterling did a great job as her husband and sidekick. McKenna Turner was another favorite and she did a great job as Diana. I look forward to more shows at SMT.
Written on Mar 06 2012I took my daughter and we were glad we were able to see this musical.
Written on Mar 05 2012I enjoyed the show----90% of the actor dancers were strong and did and excellent job in their roles. There was more depth to the story than I expected. The only thing that was way off for me was that a women with a young infant sat behind us. Luckily the child was great 85% of the time but why should I pay 40 bucks to be bothered 15% of the time----She also had a 3 year old----really not a show for children on any level.---Overall had a great time
Written on Mar 05 2012Really liked it but some of it appeared to be tailored to the talents of the cast at the expense of the plot. Cassie should sing "What I did for Love" not Diane. Overall, well performed and worth going to see!
