Shrug off the squareness of reality and fall into an entertaining re-imagination of Lewis Carroll's classic tale of nonsense and fantasy with Through the Looking Glass: The Burlesque Alice in Wonderland. From the minds of Artistic Director Lily Verlaine and collaborator Jasper McCann -- producers of the wildly successful holiday burlesque extravaganza Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker and the wine-soaked Burlesco DiVino: Wine in Rome -- comes this scintillating story of Alice as she discovers what's beyond the velvet rope at Wonderland's most exclusive nightclub, The Looking Glass. This show features the superstars of Seattle's burlesque A-list, including Lily Verlaine, Miss Indigo Blue, Babette La Fave, Miss Inga Ingénue, Trojan Original, Paris Original and Jasper McCann. The music was great, but the venue itself made a huge error in judgment. This artist has it's roots in classical music and there would be very quiet movements within a particular piece. Unfortunately, they had an event in the adjacent lounge which was very, very loud. Why they would schedule this event the same night a moody, atmospheric chamber style orchestra was performing is beyond me. Seems like a sophomoric mistake, which was surprising considering how long the Triple Door has been open and other visits have been much better than last night.

Kranky Records on Tour featuring:
A Winged Victory for the Sullen
with the ACME string ensemble
+ Benoît Pioulard, Ken Camden
Two greats of music in general, composer Dustin O’Halloran and Stars of the Lid member Adam Wiltzie have put their heads together and formed a new group, called A Winged Victory For The Sullen. Some could call it a supergroup, and you wouldn’t actually be far off in that description. Regardless of just how good a group it is, their album has now got a UK release date after getting an international and US release date earlier last month. Their record is self-titled and will come out through the ever reliable Erased Tapes.
