The 5th Avenue Theatre presents Gilbert and Sullivan's beloved The Pirates of Penzance. This comic musical tells the story of Frederic, a boy mistakenly apprenticed to a soft-hearted band of pirates (his hard-of-hearing nurse was told to take him to a ship's pilot). When his apprenticeship is finally over, he leaves the pirate ship and promptly falls in love with a Major-General's daughter. Just as he starts planning for a law-abiding future, the pirates return to inform him that since his birthday falls on Leap Day, he still has another 63 years of pirate apprenticeship left. The score features many of Gilbert and Sullivan's wittiest and most engaging tunes, including the immortal "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General." Learn More

This was a great family event. The set changes were smooth and impressive, the acting, singing, and dancing, all vibrant.

The choreography was really impressive and Christopher Charles Wood had a beautiful voice.

I think the premise of the musical was great but there were just too many dragged out parts in it. One number didn't even really make sense. I think it had too much "filler" time vs substance. Again, "it was ok" but nothing like other musicals. I am glad I went but would never want to go and see this musical again.

Well done production, very enjoyable! Could have used a little more "sizzle" between Lola and Joe. A great set, and costumes. Good sound. Well worth seeing
