Cassandra Wilson is best known as a jazz singer and instrumentalist, but she has broken out of the traditional confines of the genre to include elements of blues, country and folk into her music. She draws on influences ranging from Miles Davis and Hank Williams to Joni Mitchell and Robert Johnson. In addition to her two Grammys, Wilson has won the Django D'Or and The Edison Music Award, and been recognized with a marker on the Mississippi Blues Trail. She also performed one of the leading roles in Wynton Marsalis' Blood on the Fields, the first jazz work to receive a Pulitzer Prize. Learn More

I got two great menus last night. First and foremost the musical one came in many different languages that I didn't understand...but boy, was it well-prepared! I've worked for years in the entertainment industry and Gina Sala is unique, and charming and deserves respect if only for the adulation she gets from each ethnic group that responds to her perfect enunciation. But her stage presence is precious and her delivery effortless, and her selection of excellent sidemen all added up to a nice time. Other friends in the music biz were in attendance as well, and we all agree Gina's real special. I'll continue to try to find a rare open time to hear her again, and you should, as well! Oh...the other menu was fine, too. I came for the music, but my order of phad thai would have been enough to feed the band!
