Cupped between the jagged Olympic Mountains to the west and the volcanic peaks of the Cascade Range to the east stands the tallest peak of them all, Mount Rainier, at 14,411 feet. This 10-hour adventure offers ample opportunities for exploring, learning and just plain having fun on this national treasure. The "mountain" is actually an active volcano encased in more than 35 square miles of snow and ice, surrounded by old-growth forest and stunning wildflower meadows, lakes and waterfalls. After arriving in a fully outfitted luxury Mercedes van, you'll be led by your naturalist mountain guide on a short hike or snowshoe along the Nisqually Vista trail -- or possibly something a little more challenging, depending on the group. Take out the binoculars and spot for birds and wildlife, marmots, coyotes, elk, deer, fox and black bear roaming the mountainside. End your escape by following the road down to where the park's roots began, in Longmire. Included as part of the tour are morning tea with pastries, a safari lunch, afternoon tea, snowshoe rental, and comprehensive naturalist commentary.
