Piano Quartets: Brahms, Andres, Sharlat
Town Music's Piano Quartets: Brahms, Andres, Sharlat
Town Music artistic director and acclaimed cellist Joshua Roman teams with Grammy-nominated pianist Andrius Zlabys to kick off the season's exciting series of contemporary classical concerts. Along with Australian violinist Susie Park, they'll perform Yevgeniy Sharlat's Piano Quartet and Timo Andres' 2007 work, I Found It by the Sea
, as well as the piece that inspired it -- Johannes Brahms' Quartet in G Minor. Yet to turn 30, Andres is one of the hottest talents working today, having won the prestigious ASCAP Young Composer Award in 2013. Lithuanian pianist Zlabys is also a prize-winner, taking home the honor from the Cleveland International Piano Competition, while Roman is the former principal cellist of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and as the San Francisco Chronicle
raves, "a cellist of extraordinary technical and musical gifts."

Kick off the Lake Union Civic Orchestra's 20th anniversary season with a rousing program featuring a Mozart concerto, Manuel de Falla's Ritual Fire Dance, Ottorino Respighi's Pines of Rome and a world premiere from local composer Taylor Whatley. Seattle's friendliest orchestra is comprised of talented local amateurs as well as professional soloists including Virginia Knight and Juliet Stratton who will perform with LUCO on Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp -- his only piece featuring a harp. Whatley is an up-and-coming student composer at Pacific Lutheran University and will present his Fanfare Giocoso for the first time with LUCO. Learn More
