One of the most infamous figures in American history -- Lizzie Borden -- comes to the stage in the innovative drama Blood Relations. Written by Sharon Pollock, one of Canada's premier playwrights, this psychological murder mystery delves into the facts and speculation surrounding the unsolved 1892 double murder of Andrew and Abby Borden. Their daughter Lizzie was tried and acquitted for the murders -- but not before becoming the country's first tabloid celebrity. This dreamlike play within a play takes place ten years after the trial, as Lizzie and her actress friend reenact the various roles from the night of the murders, and the truth of that night begins to come into focus. This is another stellar production from New Century Theatre Company, a group of artists that consistently offers the finest ensemble acting in Seattle. Stephanie Timm's new play deals explicitly and honestly with sexual scandal in American politics and marriage, and drives through 80 riveting minutes to a powerful ending.
