Phone sex workers, phone psychics, and the callers who depend on them come together over handsets, headsets and long-distance phone lines in this world premiere musical from Washington Ensemble Theatre. Written by WET members Ali el-Gasseir and Ella Dorband, The Callers delves into a world of tangled phone cords and dial tones where everybody's searching for something and they're forever hoping not to be on the receiving end of a busy signal. The show features original music composed by Richard Andriessen. Andrew Russell directs.

Our Price:
$5.00 - $10.00

What's the price of growing up? Tall Skinny Cruel Cruel Boys explores that question in the most entertaining of ways, weaving fantasy, clown, and puppetry with brutal reality. It's the story of Brandy, the city's most sought-after birthday party clown. She's never let her drinking, gambling, and bed-hopping interfere with her work -- until now. Her teenage boyfriend won't stop calling, her clients are getting needy ... and the monster under her bed is growing restless. Learn More

The actors were excellent, as was their singing. The storyline was interesting and engaging. Without giving it away, and I most likely will with my comment: the ending was a disconnect with the lighter, more humorous tone of the musical. It didn't work for me.

really fun show - very well-rehearsed and professional yet still personal. i had a great time at the world premiere of 'the callers'! the music was well chosen and well written. my only bit of feedback would be to tighten up the ending a little and you're good to go. thanks for the show!
