L.A. Connection puts on an outrageously funny improv show in the "Who's Line Is It Anyway" style. The show is one of the LA Times' "best bets."

We happened to see the last 30 mintes of the previous show (an Oscar Improv) and the entire Sat Night Late Show in addition to the Improv Odyssey. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. However, I liked the Oscar and Late Show better than the specific Improv Odyssey we purchased tickets for.

The IO show featured 5 actors. I think they're okay funny but not extremely funny. At least three of the five actors had very noticeable hiccups. I don't quite like Kathy(?), the only woman in this cast, because I don't think shouting very loudly signifies more talent.

The Late show was given by a very young group of actors, who were extremely enthusiastic. Originally we thought about leaving early if the Late Show wasn't too interesting, but we ended up watching the all thing til midnight. It was a very "uplifting" show.

I would give the Oscar and Late Show 3 stars if they were listed on GoldStar. Unfortunately, I could only give this Odyssey show 2 stars because the actors didn't seem to at their peak judging by the evening's performance.

This improv troupe involves the audience much more directly than others I've seen. I got to "direct" a scene, and my friend was in one. Some people might think that's a good thing, and some might not. Anyway, like an improv troupe, there were funnier moments than others, but I thought that overall they were pretty darn good. Plus, you could stay for the next show for free if so inclined. So, it could be a super value for your entertainment dollar.
