This one woman show of the life of Billie Holliday was pulled off only for the fact that the performer was the writer of the piece. I enjoyed the content and even liked the singing as she would weave the songs into the story line. Although I learned more about BH in this piece and it brings more relevence to her songs , I felt the acting was dis-jointed. She seem to stumble a bit on the script and it seemed more like a reading then a self revelation. I thought her going back to the "juice" was too often and distracting even though this action connotated her need to drink and relax.Written on Sep 13 2010
Over all I am glad to see the performance and thank the actress for putting together such a wonderful piece. Since this was a repriesal and the end of this run did I feel it ws a bit contrived and could have been fresher.
