Great Production! I have seen the musical several times in London, so my expectations were very high. First off, I liked the intimate setting of the theater, as it helps the audience become involved in the story. I was a little disappointed by the low budget, but I felt that the acting and the live band were excellent. The singing was mixed...I felt every one was good except for Mrs. Johnson. The narrator and the Johnson twins were superb, but they could have casted a better Mrs. Johnson, as her singing was below par. Despite some confusion in the production's attempt to add American and British elements (all the profanity was not necessary...this show is definitely NOT for children), I really did enjoy the performance. The staff of the theater were also very nice. Maybe it wasn't worth full price, but you cannot beat the half price rate through Goldstar. Tip: the theater reserves some seats in the front row for latecomers, so you may want to purposely arrive late to get the choice seats!

I have always loved this piece. It's very special in my heart, but this production pales to my admittedly "higher" expectations. The stellar exception however, is the actor playing Mickey, absolutely wonderful to watch!

I watched the show because of a friend being in it. And the show is good. It has a small snag here or there. Which has nothing to do with the acting or direction, just the play itself hits a stall in some parts. Then the play gets rolling again, and it's a fantastic play. Cheesy at the right times, funny at the right times and dramatic at the right times.
I will certainly say its worth the money. Parking is a bit of crap, so figure it out early, as there is none. Oh, and there were these people there. Obviously Studio City trash. They wore Forever 21 and tried to pass themselves off as Gucci. They took these seats from this 90 year old couple during intermission. Then when asked if the elderly could have their seats back, they pretended to not hear them. Forcing these two elderly people to scramble for seats in the dark. I would have If by chance your reading this (they were there to see the rich kids Mom) you are very lucky I was watching a friend. Or we would have had words fella. You and your friend. That's rude. Develop some tact would you.

The play is wonderful, a truly enjoyable evening in the theatre. I had seen this play on Broadway and they definitely do it justice.

So have you heard the story of the Johnstone twins? This record breaking musical charts the journey of twins separated at birth, who grow up in different social classes. The mother, Mrs. Johnstone, gives away one of her sons to the richer Mrs. Lyons, the show is based around the superstition that if either twin learns that he was once one of a pair, they both shall immediately die.

This powerfully moving musical still runs in London after 25 years and has had multiple tours around the world. The simplicity of the music combined with the rich narrative allows the audience to witness what great musical theatre can be like.
