Entertaining a 4 yr old

Although they had a good idea in working with kids ... there really wasn't much of a show. The total show portion was maybe 15 minutes ... the rest was talking to the audience. There was VERY little of the Hansel and Gretle premise. The person who played the father couldn't remember any of his lines. Gretel came out in an outfit where the shorts were too short, the top too tight, and the blue bra was totally inappropriate. She looked like she should be at Hooters, not a kid's play. Jumping Jack was the best part of this whole thing - He was GREAT! (And the man who was in front was very friendly)

If any of you are expecting an actual play - you'll be highly disapointed.

IF I lived close by, and IF it were $5.00 or less, then yes, it would be a fun time for a little kid because they are great with getting the kids moving. That is the best part about this ... the people do work well with kids as far as getting them involved.

This is a small theater but it has a lot of character. The age suggestion for this show was for younger kids and I have to agree. I took my 9 year old son. I have been trying to get him interested in something and I thought acting would be fun for him. They start off the show with a song and dance asking for audience participation. The little kids were happy to do this but my son was not. The show was only 45 minutes long and the story was an adaption not the real deal so that took away from the enjoyment. The scenery was very middle school production. The story itself was again great for little kids but wrong. Hansel and Gretel are little piggies eating only junk food and their dad decides to drop them in the forest with a bag of junk food and hopes they will learn to survive without parents because they are eating him out of house and home. They find a house made out of healthy food owned by Jumpin Jack Flash who teaches them the value of healthy eats and exercise. They return home to dad skinny and schooled in nutrition. The actors were all great and they passed out healthy snacks...sliced apples and baby carrots in individual bags....and bubbles at the end of the show. All the little kids seemed very excited to run up and get autographs at the end of the show.

After reading some of the prior comments I didn't expect much, however I enjoyed it; and what's most important is that my two great nieces, age 8 and 4 had a good time, and that's what counts. I've been to more professional productions for children, but I am glad I took them. It is reasonably priced, especially through Goldstar and the kids got involved, which was also nice.
