This is not the first time i have seen Lisa David Dean's charmer "The Monster Under My Bed Drank My Vodka" I have actually seen it several times and it continues to be one of my favorite contemporary theater productions. She flows so gracefully from one voice and personality to the next that it becomes easy to forget it's only her up there playing all those characters!
This play creates a window that allows us a view into some very serious subject matter in a way that is both raw, honest and revealing as well as a bit gentle and deeply humorous. I feel it has an intention of spreading some hope to those who still suffer and some compassionate insight for those who are close to them. All Good...See and Enjoy!

Ok, so I've been hearing about this show for months and finally decided to see what all the fuss is about.
Wow!! i have to say I was so pleasantly surprised!
What a great show and an amazing young actress.
My date and I laughed the whole time and couldn't stop talking about it to everyone we know.
Lisa David Dean played ALL the characters in this show... amazing!
She goes through her experiences of being an alcoholic and dating in AA - hilarious.
I overheard someone in the audience talking about how they're making a sitcom with her based on this show. That does not surprise me AT ALL!
I highly recommend seeing this before the girl is too famous!
Great intimate theatre too in a nice neighborhood.

There were definitely funny moments in this show... her impersonations of other people in her life were great. She told 3 or 4 stories that were dead-on with things that have happened in my life while dating. There were moments where I thought she was over acting a little... It felt forced and a little flat. The ending was a little too "and we all lived happily ever after" for my taste. I don't know... I wouldn't recommend that people don't see it, but I'm not raving about it. It was just ok.

Quotes & Highlights

  • “Lisa David Dean is a brave and highly engaging storyteller who shows promise of becoming a major comedic force.” --The New York Times
  • “We are disarmed by her mimicry: Like a Whoopi Goldberg or Jefferson Mays, Dean sketches out figures using a minimum of strokes making her performance as spare, as it is emotionally lush.” --Backstage
