Part scatological monologue, part confessional, The Secret of Fifty, Fatherhood and Facebook humorously yet touchingly reveals one man's journey into true adulthood. Filled with some decidedly adult language and situations, the show powerfully captures the messiness of actor Vince CefalĂș's daily struggles.

Being a father myself, albeit slightly younger, I could relate to a lot of what I saw and heard. The writing was decent, mostly engaging and enjoyable (advice: lose the poetry bit). I liked the "story", but felt there was something lacking--maybe a stronger sense of ...resolution? ... conclusion? At times it also felt a little preachy, but not really in a bad way. Good/appropriate transition music, among other things, would have helped. Liked this venue a lot. My girlfriend was able to relate to different components of the story than I was; we had very different experiences. Overall, I enjoyed this show and would recommend it.

Often funny, a little preachy at times. Nice intimate venue. Story was somewhat unrelatable but thought it was pretty well written (yeah, I probably could have lived without the internet porn section).

Quite cathartic for the writer/actor and moving for his audience. I could see how this show would be healing for him. However, I was turned off by the profanity and the internet porn sequence. TMI

More Information About The Secret of Fifty, Fatherhood & Facebook

Quotes & Highlights

  • "Cefalu possesses a biting, profane sense of humor, ripping into the superficial aspects of modern life and his own problems in a series of monologues. He sarcastically lampoons contemporary society, and himself, for engaging in sometimes frivolous pursuits like Facebook and the drive for success, instead of focusing on the meat and potatoes of life, friendships and family. As he matures into a more caring, thoughtful man, his values and attitudes change." —The Tolucan Times
  • ". . .Vince wrestles with coming to terms with his past, questioning his drive for career success, and wondering if he has put the proper focus on friendships and family. As the show progresses, so does Vince, seemingly maturating into a more caring and thoughtful person right before his audience’s eyes. While full of scathing humor, the show also delivers an emotional punch as Vince reveals his vulnerabilities, and reflects on his alcoholism and the dark and destructive road he has traveled to get to the positive place in which he now dwells." —LifeAfter50.com
