Three-time Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) and French Stewart (Third Rock from the Sun) star in Justin Tanner's hit comedy about the unlikely romance between a deluded community theater actress and the overeducated vocal coach she hires to make her a star. Maile Flanagan rounds out the cast. The production enjoyed hit runs at the Zephyr Theatre in 2009 and the Sacred Fools Theatre in the spring of 2011. The play was a L.A. Times Critics' Choice and was nominated for four Ovation awards. Metcalf, a seven-time Emmy award nominee, has previously worked with Tanner in the original production of Pot Mom.

This is a quirky little play, and definitely unique. It deftly alternates humor and pathos, teasing out abundant laughs from three rather troubled characters. Metcalf and Stewart seem to fully understand the writer's offbeat humor and eccentric characters, lending a naturalness to what could easily be a disjointed story line in the hands of other less-skilled actors.Written on Oct 25 2011
