With this modern reinvention, Tony Kushner (Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of Angels in America) triumphantly reinvents L'illusion Comique,, the fascinating, theatrical fairy-tale first told by French classical dramatist Pierre Corneille more than 370 years ago. A father, on a mission to reunite with his estranged son, enlists the services of a powerful sorcerer who conjures up provocative images from the young man's life. The father is led deep into a maze of romance, intrigue, conspiracy, and murder. But just how much of it is true? Witty and profound, timely and transcendent, The Illusion weaves reality and truth with the magic of the theater. Learn More

Description
Two unconventional mini-musicals: first, an unhinged librarian teaches several unsuspecting adults about the injustices of life. Next, a high-strung children’s TV star learns her own valuable lessons – like “being pretty is all that matters.” Singing and dancing and gunshots, oh my! Winner of the Audience Choice Award for Best Musical at the 2007 CapFringe Festival. Appropriate for adults.
The DC-based Bouncing Ball Theatrical Productions was founded in 2006 when writer Shawn Northrip joined with director Shirley Serotsky to start a company with the vision of creating new and unique musical theater works that challenged genre expectations with hip stories and contemporary music. Their work appeals not only to fans of musicals, but also to audiences who rarely attended live theater. Bouncing Ball's other productions have included the middle school rock musical Lunch at The First Annual Capital Fringe Festival and the New York Musical Festival and the punk musical Titus X, seen at DC's Black Cat.
