Woolly's 35th season opens with a guillotine-sharp, contemporary-sounding satire that morphs into a real tragedy as it tells the true story of a fabulously wealthy, fashion-setting teenage drama queen whose last name could've well been Cyrus or Kardashian. But France's famed 18th-century monarch Marie Antoinette has her own issues dealing with fickle fame and fortune, especially as her once-loyal subjects begin to royally despise her in the midst of an economic downturn. Multi-award-winning playwright and Guggenheim fellow David Adjmi premiered his acclaimed work Stunning at Woolly, which welcomes him back, along with Woolly company member Kimberly Gilbert in the title role. New York Magazine calls Adjmi's version of the historical drama "marvelous, disturbing, revisionist." Learn More
