Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi presents the classic story To Kill a Mockingbird. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Southern novel by Harper Lee, this adaptation by Christopher Sergel follows the journey of Scout Finch whose father Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he did not commit. As the trial progresses, Scout and her brother Jem see their community divided over issues of justice and racism. The tale compels us to take an honest look at our nation's past and our moral responsibility to each other. The production features veteran actor Don Swayze (True Blood) as Atticus Finch and former NFL player Dwight Hicks as Tom Robinson. Learn More

This was a great evening of Big Band style jazz music from very talented musicians. I hadn't heard them before but would love to see them again. I was surprised that they didn't have a CD to sell during intermission.Written on Sep 28 2008

Description
Bob Couto and the North LA Jazz Ensemble returns to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center for a jazz concert. Couto, a longtime friend of the Arts Center, has been involved in various events sponsored by the SVCAC Foundation including the Vino Jazz Festival and their annual Spotlight Awards Ceremony. His North LA Jazz Ensemble has played a number of concerts at the Cultural Arts Center as well.
This jazz ensemble is always a crowd pleaser as they fill the audience with the sounds of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller and more as well as traditional Jazz and Dixieland. When the sounds of jazz greats like Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Les Brown, Count Basie, Harry James and others converge, musical magic happens. For a night of pure pleasure to the ear, take a stroll down memory lane with the North LA Jazz Ensemble.
