Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi presents the classic story To Kill a Mockingbird. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Southern novel by Harper Lee, this adaptation by Christopher Sergel follows the journey of Scout Finch whose father Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he did not commit. As the trial progresses, Scout and her brother Jem see their community divided over issues of justice and racism. The tale compels us to take an honest look at our nation's past and our moral responsibility to each other. The production features veteran actor Don Swayze (True Blood) as Atticus Finch and former NFL player Dwight Hicks as Tom Robinson. Learn More

Direction was good. Singer who played Lancelot was weak. Other singers were great. Costumes were poor. All in all it was worth seeing.

The production was very enjoyable, but my problem was with the design of the theater, particularly that they really crammed in the seats - zero leg room! our seats were in the middle of the row and the people sitting in the seats on the end had to get up out of their seats and leave the row to let us in.. and we're not big or tall people. Just seated normally, your knees are up against the seat in front of you. For someone who is big or tall, it would be out of the question to sit through a production here.

Well, it was great for a community theater, that is for sure. There were a few outstanding performances from Pelinore, King Arthur and the resplendent Guinevere. However, Mordred stole the show!! It was amazing that a cast of ten was able to do so much with a limited space and staging.

We attended with six friends and everyone LOVED the performance - the set, the costumes, the music, the voices. We had a wonderful evening and are recommending it to all our friends. Would give it a 5-Star rating if we could. Can't wait for the next production - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. And looking forward to Grapes of Wrath. This is an amazing small theater company; have never been disappointed in any of their productions.
