Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi presents the classic story To Kill a Mockingbird. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Southern novel by Harper Lee, this adaptation by Christopher Sergel follows the journey of Scout Finch whose father Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he did not commit. As the trial progresses, Scout and her brother Jem see their community divided over issues of justice and racism. The tale compels us to take an honest look at our nation's past and our moral responsibility to each other. The production features veteran actor Don Swayze (True Blood) as Atticus Finch and former NFL player Dwight Hicks as Tom Robinson. Learn More

I liked this play. For it being at that venue it was good as it was going to be. It wasn't anything fancy with an elaborate backdrop but the acting and singing was good for a small town play and for the price. Too bad that there weren't that many people in the audience. It went by really fast and before I knew it, it was over.Written on Sep 08 2008

The leading lady did a great job as Jo. All of the women sang very well. The men struggled a bit, especially on the high notes. I'm just not sure that Little Women was meant to be a musical. A lot of the music, especially the lyrics, was a bit cheesy. I also never pictured Laurie as a nerd. But it was still enjoyable.Written on Aug 19 2008

For a local production, it wasn't bad. Most of the cast had great voices, some didn't. Although, I did confirm what I read in a previous review --- someone in the orchestra NEEDS to tune their instrument badly!Written on Aug 18 2008
