Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi presents the classic story To Kill a Mockingbird. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Southern novel by Harper Lee, this adaptation by Christopher Sergel follows the journey of Scout Finch whose father Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he did not commit. As the trial progresses, Scout and her brother Jem see their community divided over issues of justice and racism. The tale compels us to take an honest look at our nation's past and our moral responsibility to each other. The production features veteran actor Don Swayze (True Blood) as Atticus Finch and former NFL player Dwight Hicks as Tom Robinson. Learn More

The venue was stunning. An intimate theater with absolute state of the art audio and lights. The staff was most caring. All of the casts' costumes were stunning. Eliza's gown for the ball was almost identical to the film version. Prof. Higgins and Doolittle's performances were perfect by any standard. The dancing chorus scenes were impressive considering the small stage, well choreographed and rehearsed. It was a pleasant and affordable afternoon event. I look forward to more.Written on Jun 15 2009

My Fair Lady is a wonderful show and the performers at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center did a good job.Written on Jun 22 2009
The top actors, in my opinion, were Professor Higgins (close your eyes and he could have been Rex Harrison), the lady who played his mother (supurb), Eliza Doolittle (a voice with charm and quality), Colonel Pickering (elegant), and Alfred P. Doolittle (a great character with lots of energy).
I would have liked the orchestra (that plays so beautifully) play a little softer as not to drown out the voices of the singers.
Also, I would have liked to have heard some of the actors enunciate their lines more clearly, in particular, Alfred Doolittle.
All in all, the show was delightful remembering that it is a community theatre.

Another Great play at this great little theatre. The actors were solid as usual with the play being entertaining enough to keep everyone involved. Parking is always free which is hard to find these days. Well worth the price of admission thanks goldstar.Written on Jul 27 2009

Description

One of the classics of the American stage, My Fair Lady debuted in 1956 and was a smashing success. Based on Shaw's Pygmallion, this Tony Award-winning family musical recounts the tale of how voice professor Henry Higgins transforms plain Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady of English society. Featuring such memorable tunes as "Wouldn't It Be Loverly", "I Could Have Danced All Night" and "Get Me To The Church on Time", My Fair Lady is sure to have you leaving the theater humming one of the many classics from the score.
