For an opening night it started out shaky but got better as the evening progressed. I will have to say that the person in the box office was pretty behind in getting tickets and because of it the show started 45 minutes late. But the actors were really good, I was really impressed with the gentleman that played Carmen Ghia, He was a riot and stole the show! Also the gentleman that played Roger and the German were fantastic. All in all I really enjoyed myself and look forward to seeing it again as the month progresses! A fun night out and a fun night had by the 16 of us that were there that night.

Quality show for the price. This was the 5th time I've made the trip to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center. Next show I plan to see here is West Side Story in July/August.

Such a good value, even at full price it would have been! We laughed so much and really enjoyed the wit and quality of the performance as well as the intimacy of the venue. This was our first time at the Simi Cultural Arts Center and hopefully we will be there many more times. So nice not to have to go downtown or across the S.F. Valley to see a good production!

3rd row center seats for a very enjoyable production. Professionally acted and staged. Bring a jacket inside with you on cold evenings. Ordering early does not help, Goldstar sends all of their orders the day of the event.

There were some very funny moments in this show - excellent acting. The theatre is cozy (I liked it). More than I expected considering the price. I would recommend.

What a blast! I was laughing so hard my cheeks were hurting! With the media putting such a “doom and gloom” spin on our world right now, this show was a great way to escape for a few hours with a totally crazy, wildly entertaining musical. Mel Brooks is truly a genius and this cast would make him proud. I loved all the quirky actors – they kept me rolling. I had so much fun watching my friends hysterically laughing during the highlights. I do have to admit; I had a bit of a spooky reaction, seeing actors dressed up as Nazis with their arms pointed out. But in an instant, remembering this was a total satire, I was back laughing again. Thanks again Simi for working so hard to put a little fun in our lives.

Going to a community theater event can be like a roll of the dice (or in this case like a Max Bialystock production) - you never know if you're going to get a winning 7 or snake eyes. In this case, it's a winner. The two leads Bart Sumner and Bobby Dantona were superb as Bialystock and Bloom, as were John McCool Bowers as Leibkind the crazy Nazi, George Chavez as Carmen Ghia, and Sean Harrington as Roger Debris/Adolf Hitler. And the rest of the cast was excellent. The all volunteer orchestra gamely performed the score with panache. Much funnier and livelier than the original film starring the legendary Zero Mostel. Would love to see it again. Hats off to everyone here - to hold down day jobs AND rehearse multiple roles AND put on this production - bravo!

Very nice!
Overall, a fine show. I really liked the pairing of Bialystock and Bloom - in particular, the gentleman playing Max Bialystock really lived the role without going excessively over the top (loved his solo song recapping the play so far.)
Roger Debris and Carmen Ghia were also excellent, and the rest of the ensemble did well.
Overall, if you're looking for a fun night out in Simi, this fits the bill. Recommended.
Note: The box office problems some of the other reviews cited appear to have been solved - I showed up, picked up my ticket, and walked right in. Maybe I just got lucky, however.

This was a great play. Mel Brooks' "The Producers" has always been one of my all time favorite movies and being in the audience of live production was just plain fun. The cast was well rehearsed and didn't miss a beat. The orchestra was a little off but not enough to detract from the play. I'm sure they will get tighter with time.
Go see "The Producers". Believe me, you won't be sorry.

By Feb 27 Box Office and cast had things worked out quite well. Orchestra coming along for a volunteer group. Not the Pantages but definitely worth the price for staying local. Audience varied from high school to seniors. All seemed to enjoy it.

A fabulous production, one of the best I have ever seen at this delighful theatre! The actors were outstanding and the 9-piece orchestra added to the pleasure. A guaranteed wonderful evening for adults (the humor is risque, not recommended for young people)! Much better than the movie.

I liked it very much. Good casting, a lot of fun. The one problem was the mike mixing. The orchestra was louder than the performers. This is a very warm venue and our seats were perfect.

OUTSTANDING!! Hilarious! Great vocals, staging, choreography and an ensemble of actors that was superb. I heard one woman say this production was better than the production she saw on Broadway!

From the moment we arrived at the "theatre" we knew we were not in for a great night. We waited in line for the box office for about twenty minutes. There was only one person working the box office and it took about five minutes for them to find our tickets. The show started 45 minutes late. At 8:45 finally the orchestra started-who was way off tune. The singing was off key, the dancing was out of sync and the lead actor playing Max (who had a microphone) was screaming so loud that we literally had to leave before the first imtermission. The only bright spots of the evening were the men who played the Nazi playwright and the Carmen Ghia. Otherwise, they have no business attempting to produce a show of this scope. It was awful. Money thrown away.

The cross dressers and the over the top gay guys were too much for my daughter who is 11. We had to walk out 1/2 hour into the show.
It would be nice if goldstar rates these shows. This definitly was R rated and kids should not attend.

The company put on a very energetic and well done show. The leads were very good, the costumes, lights etc. were well done.
The box office is atrocious. One person who was handling all tickets while three others stood by. The show didn't go up till 8:35 p.m. (supposed to be 8 p.m.) because of the box office delay. My pre-paid tickets were not printed for pickup. Comps that the actors gave were not printed for pickup... so everyone has to stand in line in the rain. The box office was definitely amateurish and I will never go back to that venue again.

The seats were good and the actors did a tremendous job. The biggest negative was that the orchestra was too loud, especially the horns!
Nice theatre.

One of the top grossing Broadway hits ever, The Producers, is coming to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, February 21, 2009 and will play through April 5, 2009. The Producers is a musical comedy adapted by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan from Brooks' 1968 film of the same name, with lyrics by Brooks and music by Brooks and Glen Kelly.
