Actors Repertory Theatre of Simi presents the classic story To Kill a Mockingbird. Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Southern novel by Harper Lee, this adaptation by Christopher Sergel follows the journey of Scout Finch whose father Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man framed for a crime he did not commit. As the trial progresses, Scout and her brother Jem see their community divided over issues of justice and racism. The tale compels us to take an honest look at our nation's past and our moral responsibility to each other. The production features veteran actor Don Swayze (True Blood) as Atticus Finch and former NFL player Dwight Hicks as Tom Robinson. Learn More

I don't know if this is "better than the movie" if your going to compare this to that. I didn't go myself but the three people who went told me afterward that THEY LOVED IT!!! I have been going to the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center for about 15 years and I have LOVED every show they put on except for one("Hair"). They have many talented young people who do the acting and dancing which add up to a very enjoyable theater experience for the audiences. I suggest you see this one and anything else produced at The Simi Valley Cultural Center.

We got the balcony seats and both my boyfriend and I are very tall so it was very tight. Other than that, we enjoyed the music. The dancing was very amateur, but what can you expect from a small venue like that. I really liked the theatre. My nine year old daughter really enjoyed the performance.

The enthusiastic, youthful cast, energetic dancing and live orchestra make this a wonderful theatre experience. The lead singers (Maria, Tony, Anita) were fantastic. An added bonus is the opportunity to greet the actors after the show in the lobby.
