Quotes & Highlights
- “He brims with youthful bravura but also understands the importance of restraint and control of color... Thibault Cauvin is decidedly on his way. He affirmed himself with a surprising maturity as a technically adroit and highly musical player who’s also blessed with open ears.” --Los Angeles Times

Description
Born on July 16, 1984 in Bordeaux, France, Thibault Cauvin began studying classical guitar when he was 6 years old with his father, guitarist and composer Philippe Cauvin, with whom he is still working. He decided to begin a solo career while pursuing his studies with Olivier Chassain at the National Conservatory of Bordeaux; there, he won the gold medal and the Medal of Honor. At the age of 17, he was unanimously nominated to be admitted at the National High School of Music in Paris, where he studied with Chassain and others.
Cauvin also began the international concourse circuit. At the age of 20, he had already won 13 international first prizes, including the prestigious Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition in Los Angeles, Concurso Internazionale di Chitarra di Mottola (Italy), Forum Gitarre Wien (Austria), Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Classica Sernancelhe (Portugal) and the San Francisco International Classical Guitar Competition.
Cauvin has already played with famous orchestras including the string orchestra Montana (USA), the chamber orchestra of Coahulia (Mexico), the Philippines National Orchestra (Philippines), the Bernard Thomas orchestra (France) and the orchestra of the National Conservatory of Bordeaux (France). He has played for different TV programs in France, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, Morocco and Antilles Island, and radio stations in France, USA, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Turkey, Morocco, Libya, Canada, and Germany. Cauvin has performed more than 400 concerts at prestigious festivals and theatres in Europe, the U.S., Canada, and more. He has also given master classes at the San Francisco Conservatory (USA), the San Paolo music department (Brazil), Montana State University (USA), the Winnipeg conservatory (Canada), El escuela superior de Musica de Monterrey (Mexico), the Manille University (Philippines), El festival de guitarra de Petrer Alicante (Spain), Le Festival de guitare de Rabat (Morrocco), the Victoria University (Canada) and the Kosice Conservatory (Slovenia).
Thibault recorded his first CD when he was 16 for the independent French label KI Record. Some years later, helped by the French government, one of his concerts in Radio France Paris was recorded and published by Declic. In 2005, a third CD, “Bell’Italia,” featuring music by great Italian composers throughout the centuries, was published by the Art Communicazione company (Italy). Thibault's newest album, “No4,” will be released by the American label GSP San Francisco, and will feature modern music.
