The Sounds of Sarah Vaughan With Broadway Vocalist Rosena M. Hill
Broadway vocalist Rosena M. Hill and her husband, Grammy-winning trombonist Jason Jackson, will be joined by legendary jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut for The Sounds of Sarah Vaughan at SOPAC. Certified jazz royalty, the late, legendary Vaughan was nicknamed "The Divine One," and is best remembered for her unique voice and take on tunes such as "Summertime," "Can't Get Out of This Mood," "Thinking of You," "Come Rain or Come Shine" and "Linger a While." For her part, Hill's an accomplished soloist and Broadway performer (Come Fly Away, The Color Purple), and Jackson has been a regular member of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the Dizzy Gillespie All Star Big Band. This tribute to Vaughan will explore her body of work and the musicians that influenced her sound.
