From the moment it was published as a novel by William E. Barret, The Lilies of the Field has had a special effect on people. Experience it yourself when Open Window Theatre presents this heart-warming stage adaptation. Headed west in search of a new beginning in the mid-1950s, black Southern Baptist itinerant worker Homer Smith encounters a group of Catholic nuns scratching out an existence in the remote Southwest. Mother Maria Marthe, convinced that Homer was sent to them by God to build them a chapel, persuades him to stay (without pay) and take on this seemingly impossible task. In QUEER, you meet real people letting you into their lives with the stories you have never heard; probably were never aware were happening around you.
Everyone who sees the show laughs, cries and then says, "More people need to see these stories."
