Working closely with their network of partners, volunteers and donors and people like you, Second Harvest Heartland's aim is not only to efficiently and effectively end hunger, but to prevent hunger. The groundwork they've laid through programs and community ties goes a long way toward meeting these goals. Second Harvest Heartland distributes more than 51 million pounds of food and grocery products annually to nearly 1,000 food shelves, soup kitchens, shelters and programs in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
Their 86,300 square feet of dry, refrigerator and freezer space is constantly accepting and distributing donations. Their fleet of trucks travels nearly half a million miles a year, picking up food donations and delivering them to local food shelves, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, senior community centers and children's after school programs.
