One Night With Janis Joplin: 4th of July Fireworks & BBQ
- Full Price:
- $108.00
- Our Price:

One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Featuring powerful musical numbers including "Piece of My Heart, "Summertime" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as one song Joplin never formally recorded, One Night boasts a full band and a cast including Sabrina Elayne Carten, who plays Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. After the performance, you'll move outside the theater for food and drinks, along with the fireworks viewing. Please see the full event description for the buffet menu. Learn More

Good variety of wine and beer samples. Would like to see more food to offset alcohol.

Written on Jul 18 2012They were a vitim of their own success. Way too many tickets sold for the number of tasing booths that were available, which made for incredibly long lines. Also the food samples were not worth mentioning as part of the event, as they were smaller samples then sampling a food item in a grocery store. The winery tour was interesting, but not very professional.
Written on Jul 18 2012Very well organized. A wide variety of vendors....good food, music, and beverages. This year, due to the high temperatures, it was a bit challenging to find a place to hide a bit from the sun.
Written on Jul 17 2012Lines from check-in and throughout the event were way too long! Most samples of food were barely a nibble after standing in line in the hot sun for at least 15 minutes each, Trash containers were few and far between. The music was good and the venders were all pleasant.
Written on Jul 17 2012Granted the day was hot, but the event was not planned well. Fortunately I was with fun company who could laugh about it afterwards. The lines were way too long, there was no water easily available and there was VERY little food available. The wine samples were fine, but the food samples were EXTREMELY minimal. They hand out much better samples at the grocery store for free on Saturdays. At one booth they had cookie samples that were literally crumbs on a plate and tiny meat samples on toothpicks. The guy in front of me started to take one of each and was told that he had to choose one or the other. He replied with my favorite statement of the day when he said, "oh, so I can have a crumb or a morsel — thanks!" The one other thing I thought was unusual was that one booth was handing out shots of gin or vodka. There was absolutely nothing to mix it with. Combined with the lack of food and the heat of the day, it seemed pretty dangerous to me. In fact I saw two different people who were laying on the ground sick. All in all, a little more entertainment and food would make this a better event.
