Based on the enduring 1905 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett (author of The Secret Garden), this musical adaptation of A Little Princess centers around Sara Crewe, a precocious young girl who's left at the mercy of a cruel headmistress after her father mysteriously disappears while searching for Timbuktu. Though made to work as a servant in a boarding school, Sara finds within herself the heart of a princess in this song-filled adaptation, designed to delight adults and kids alike. The musical was written by Brian Crawley and Tony-nominated composer Andrew Lippa (Big Fish, The Addams Family), and is presented by the Sunnyvale Community Players in a junior production comprised entirely of talented young performers between the ages of eight and 18. This was a totally delightful evening. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the production. The orchestra was unexpected - many, if not most, community theaters use recorded music or, at most, a 2- or 3-piece group. This was a full (albeit small) orchestra. You won't be disappointed.

Everyone was fabulous in this fast moving, and touching musical. Loved the live orchestra and huge cast! Every bit as good as San Jose Center for the Performing Art musicals. Incredible singing and dancing. Very talented cast!!!!!
