Take a doo-wop and Motown music-filled journey through the streets of Skid Row to a struggling flower shop where meek worker Seymour has discovered an exotic plant that makes him an overnight sensation. One problem: the plant apparently craves human blood. This campy classic -- one of the longest-running shows in off-Broadway history -- was based on a '60s B-film and later made into an '80s blockbuster starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. Relive delightfully dark tunes like "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly, Seymour" as the nerdy-but-lovable underdog romances his sweetheart and fights the monstrous plant -- which, it turns out, is actually an alien intent on world domination. The play was well acted but we were surprised that it was not easy for young children to understand, and that there were some very scary scenes in it. The theater was filled with young children and many of them were crying or saying they wanted to go home because they were scared. We were there without children, but I cannot say that we enjoyed it much either.
