Post-Slavery Drama From Pulitzer Prize-Winning Playwright
This Tony-nominated historical drama is part of two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning August Wilson's 10-play cycle chronicling the experience of African Americans in the 20th century. Set during the Great Migration of the early 1900s, Joe Turner's Come and Gone finds Herald Loomis -- haunted by seven years on a chain gang -- in Pittsburgh searching for his wife and a new life. This fully produced production is the culmination of a five-year partnership between the Broadway Center, Washington State History Museum and Northwest Playwrights Alliance to celebrate Wilson's work.
