I like Beausoleil very much. They did a good show. There was a good house, not full. And the audience was enthusiastic and appreciative. Iris Dement, who I have liked in the past, gave a lackluster performance. She brought a guitar onstage, set it on a rack, and proceded to do all the songs at the piano. All sounded the same, especially since the sound in the balcony overamped the middle. He lyrics were mostly incomprehensible. I went downstairs, where the sound was much better (pretty good, in fact) and told the staff. Later, I was told actions were taken. But I didn't notice much of a difference. The audience applauded at the end, with many standing, but there was no encore. Beausoleil did no encore either. Yes the audience was older, and some had left to go home, but one or too songs extra (a lagniappe) is customary. Altogether the evening was enjoyable, but not as good as I expected.
