From the start of her career with the groundbreaking gospel/soul group the Staple Singers to her work with Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, The Band, Santana, David Byrne, Prince, and Bob Dylan (to name a very few), Staples has been one of the great voices in pop music. Her 2007 Ry Cooder produced album We'll Never Turn Back was an inspiring and passionately performed collection of songs from the Civil Rights era.
