Fine Arts Network takes you on a quirky, fun-filled journey to a struggling flower shop where a blood-thirsty plant from another world eagerly awaits its next victim. Darkly seductive, tragic and full of twisted humor, Little Shop of Horrors is a loving onstage homage to 1950s sci-fi movies. The third-longest-running show in off-Broadway history and the winner of several Best Musical awards, it was later made into a film starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. The show's '50s and '60s Motown-style score, written by the Academy Award-winning team of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, includes such memorable numbers as "Skid Row," "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly Seymour." E. Grieg -- Holberg Suite
The Suite beings with an overture, moves through a rondeau, sarabande, two bourrees, a polonaise and a minuet, and ends with a badinerie.
J. S. Bach -- Orchestral Suite # 2 in B minor
The second “play it again” piece is Bach’s Orchestra Suite # 2 in B minor; this piece incorporates dance themes as well. Bach wrote “stylized dances” which were intended for listening not dancing, and its eight movements use traditional French dances as well.
G. F. Handel – Water Music Suite in G Major
Written for King George I in 1717 and performed from a barge in the Thames River. Here again, dance movements are foremost, the sarabande, rigaudon, minuet and bourree.
