Fine Arts Network takes you on a quirky, fun-filled journey to a struggling flower shop where a blood-thirsty plant from another world eagerly awaits its next victim. Darkly seductive, tragic and full of twisted humor, Little Shop of Horrors is a loving onstage homage to 1950s sci-fi movies. The third-longest-running show in off-Broadway history and the winner of several Best Musical awards, it was later made into a film starring Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. The show's '50s and '60s Motown-style score, written by the Academy Award-winning team of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, includes such memorable numbers as "Skid Row," "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly Seymour." In honor of Erle Stanley Gardner Mystery Weekend, The California Chamber Orchestra brings you two incredible pieces: the first is the complete original version of Aaron Copland's inspiring Appalachian Spring, danced by members of the Temecula Dance Company; and the second is the world premiere of a piece written especially for this occasion by the brilliant composer Joseph Waters. The evening will be an unforgettable theater experience of sound and dance.
