Fast-Paced Romantic Romp The Liar
Shakespeare in the Vines kicks off its 2014 season with love, lies and sex. Dorante, a charming, handsome pathological liar, has come to Paris seeking pleasure. He falls head over heels for the beautiful Clarice, but mistakes her name for that of her best friend, Lucrece. After lying his way into a world of trouble, can Dorante lie his way back out again? Broadway playwright David Ives' English-language adaptation of Pierre Corneille's 1644 comedy is chock-full of hilarious misunderstandings, secret agendas and witty wordplay. The 17th-century world of The Liar will make you want to drop all your modern-day conveniences and head back in time for a little licentious adventure.
