You won't need your passport for this European Vacation. Arizona Pro Arte Ensemble brings the sounds of the "old country" to the Tempe Center for the Arts, with works from Schumann, Bruch and Mozart. Featuring the ensemble's own principal violist Allyson Wuenschel with principal clarinetist Mary Jackson, the concert includes Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 3, Rhenish, Max Bruch's Concerto for Clarinet and Viola (written for his son Max Felix, who played clarinet), and Mozart's overture to the opera Don Giovanni. As usual, the setting was beautiful, free, easy parking, very welcoming..you can even take in a beverage. What we hadn't realized was that it was assigned seating..we are used to general seating and everyone getting their own tickets..I guess we will have to go back to one person getting the tickets so that we can sit together or using Goldstar's method of doing that. The music was heavenly, the conductor explains everything and is a job to watch, and how wonderful to hear the husband and wife team singing Mahler in German, with gestures, plus having the translation in front of us. just too bad that not many people stayed for the discussion and heard the romantic story of how the couple met. An excellent evening!
