William Shakespeare's supernatural tragedy is also a brilliant political thriller about the rise and fall of a brave warrior who would be king at any price. Full of murder, treason, ambition and greed, Macbeth is a journey into the very heart of evil.

Excellent acting and very well staged! The outdoor setting only adds to the production and the fact that it is done at night adds a nice moodiness.

The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum is an amazing place, built into the forest on a hillside. The forest, bridge, etc., are worked into the productions, and they do a fabulous job on every Shakespeare production I've seen there (and on Dracula as well). A real treat to go there. Reasonable ticket prices, all seats are good, and free parking on the street (or $5 in the lot), easy access.

I love the theater and this was a great performance; it was the last performance night of the summer season. Bring pillows to sit on and a blanket cause it can get chilly up there once the sun goes down. Parking was easy; anywhere on the canyon rd before or after the entrance to the theater. Theater parking is $5 or something like that, but the street is free.

Absolutely loved it! Great venue for bringing a picnic and sitting among the trees and foliage near a creek with semi-privated tables and chairs dotted about.

The outdoor stage is rustic and the benches with backs are a little uncomfortable after awhile (they do recommend bringing a cushion to sit on) but the performance was outstanding and would recommend the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum to my friends, family, and co-workers.

More Information About Macbeth

Description

When ambition becomes distorted with the longing for power, and obsession collides with greed, the world spirals into one of villainy, destruction and chaos. If a man or woman becomes infected with this ambition, their desire, like a runaway train, destroys everything in its way, even themselves. Shakespeare masterfully tells this cautionary tale of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and their quest to reign supreme. Haunted by prophecies and goaded by his ambitious wife, Macbeth sets in motion an evil and bloody rise to the throne.

The last and darkest of Shakespeare’s tragedies, Macbeth is loosely based on the story of Mac Bethad mac Findlaích, who reigned as king of Scotland from 1040-1057 A.D. It's a chilling tale of greed, corruption and death that follows Macbeth’s transformation from a battlefield hero to a bloody tyrant. "Macbeth transcends what might seem the limits of art," wrote renowned Shakespeare critic Harold Bloom. "It is a visionary tragedy."
