What a wonderful venue. We arrived early to explore the grounds and picnic. (Several picnic areas and tables are provided.) Both my children, ages 7 and 9, loved both the show and the experience. The actors were wonderful, the show was hilarious and the overall experience lovely. I highly reccomend any show at the Theatricum Botanicum!Written on Jul 09 2007

More Information About Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream
Description

By popular demand, The Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum brings back its award-winning, signature production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, an audience favorite set against an enchanted forest backdrop unrivaled by any other theater - because it's the real thing! The most magical outdoor setting in Los Angeles is once again transformed into an enchanted fairy forest.

Melora Marshall directs a cast of lovers, fairies, clowns, and sprites including Willow Geer as Helena; Chris Jones as Demetrius; Jason Greenfield as Lysander; Samara Frame as Hermia; Michael McFall as Oberon; Abby Craden as Titania; Elizabeth Tobias and David Pintado alternating as Puck; Earnestine Phillips as Quince; and Thad Geer as Bottom.

In a place of enchantment inhabited by lovers both fairy and human, three worlds collide: the unrequited loves of Demetrius, Lysander, Hermia and Helena; a rehearsal of the Pyramus and Thisby legend by a group of Rustics; and the domestic troubles in the land of the fairies. Shakespeare's powerful language evokes a brilliant world of wonder, magic and romance, where confusions are resolved and all is reconciled through midsummer night revelries and faith in the power of nature.

"Dream has been with us since the beginning," notes Theatricum artistic director Ellen Geer. "We are always being asked to bring it back again as families bring their kids, and then their kids grow up and bring theirs. Many adults who now come to our theater once sat in our audience as children. It fits our space, seems to come out of our woods, is an organic part of our company."
