Theatricum Botanicum's season-long celebration of William Shakespeare's 450th birthday brings Much Ado About Nothing to its beautiful outdoor amphitheater this summer. Filled with masquerade balls and mistaken identities, this classically clever romantic comedy spotlights an all-out battle of the sexes, as a war of wit and words breaks out between returning soldier Benedick and the acid-tongued Beatrice, whose romance-averse sparring reveals an undeniable attraction. So Beatrice's cousin Hero and her newly betrothed love, Claudio, conspire to trick the combatants into falling in love. But they've got their own obstacles to deal with on the way to the altar. Very casual setting, our first time at this venue. The show was great! laughed a lot and the cast was very good. Defenetly recommend. I will advice to bring your own cushions, as the ones they rent for $1 are very small and not very confy. We sat in the upper tier, but any where you seat is good. Had a wonderful time.
The seats are wooden benches with backs, so feel free to bring a cushion or blanket. The theater also has cushions available for rent or purchase.
Snacks and beverages are sold before the show and at intermission. Picnics are welcome prior to attending a performance. The gardens and grounds are open daily. With the exception of bottled water, no food or beverages are permitted inside the amphitheater during performances.
