Bill Cain's witty and thought-provoking exploration of governmental power and artistic integrity also manages to mix broad humor and tense political intrigue into an award-winning crowd-pleaser. Set in 1605 London, a down-and-out playwright named Shagspeare -- yeah, you know who we're talking about -- receives a commission to write a play promoting the government's version of Guy Fawkes' treasonous plot. As Shag navigates the murky waters between writing a lie or losing his head, his devoted troupe keeps him afloat. Equivocation cleverly closes out Theatricum Botanicum's season-long salute to the Bard's 450th birthday. Learn More

Very casual setting, our first time at this venue. The show was great! laughed a lot and the cast was very good. Defenetly recommend. I will advice to bring your own cushions, as the ones they rent for $1 are very small and not very confy. We sat in the upper tier, but any where you seat is good. Had a wonderful time.
The seats are wooden benches with backs, so feel free to bring a cushion or blanket. The theater also has cushions available for rent or purchase.
Snacks and beverages are sold before the show and at intermission. Picnics are welcome prior to attending a performance. The gardens and grounds are open daily. With the exception of bottled water, no food or beverages are permitted inside the amphitheater during performances.
