The Meatballs of Comedy Show was okay. Perhaps they put on a better show other nights but it was so so. One comedian kept telling a racial joke and then checking with a Black guy in the audience to see if it was okay. That took away from the show. The headliner spent a great deal of time telling a story to apologize for telling jokes that were insensitive. If they are jokes and he was not meaning to offend, then why apologize? However, I did like the venue and I would go back and see some other acts there, and even see some of the comedians I saw, such as Marino and the female comedian if she lengthened her routine.

I have been to comedy shows at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in the past and enjoyed them. This was the complete opposite. All three comedians sucked.

The first comedian walked off the stage before the end of his set because the Australians in the crowd were not answering his questions. That was the best part of his set. The host/second comedian was OK but he left for the headliner right when he was getting laughs. The third comedian, Rove McManus, was horrible. He did not seem to have an set prepared appeared to make up his set on the spot. I did not find him funny.

Comedy shows usually last about 90 minutes, this one lasted 60 minutes. This was a good thing for me because I wanted to leave. I would put negative stars for this event if Goldstar would let me. I would go back to this club again but not to see any of these comedians.

My husband and I had a blast. It feels great to genuinely LAUGH during these hard times. Of course not every joke was HILLARIOUS, but gosh darn, it was still funny through and through. You can't deny what a great deal this is--and if you Valet and get the stamp from the club, you only pay $3! Drinks and food were great--Lovitz burger rocks.

The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club is a nice place on Universal Citywalk, though the bar menu consists mostly of hot dogs. I'm afraid I just don't appreciate the constant stream of fowl language that apparently passes for live comedy these days. One comic who preceeded Jon Lovitz, did his entire set with every sentence including either the "n" word (a free pass I suppose because he himself is African American), or "fu*k" or "sh*t"; unrelentingly. Most people laughed, but I didn't think he was funny at all; just offensive. Jon Lovitz's set was funny, but not throughout. He definately could have edited out some of his foulist material. Anyone who has ever seen him on t.v., knows he can be funny without sinking to that level.
