Description
Celebrate the first day of spring with three bands for the price of one at the first-ever “Centerpalooza,” Saturday, March 20 at 7 p.m.
Kicking off the evening is local Chicago band the Mojo Daddies. Next up is popular Bloomington, Illinois-based band Backyard Tire Fire, whose album Good To Be (produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos) was recently released. With three Grammys under their belts and chart toppers like “Mariachi Suite,” “Kiko and the Lavender Moon,” “La Bamba/Charlena” and fan favorite “Good Morning Aztlán,” Los Lobos are the evening’s headliners and they’re ready to rock The Center.
Backyard Tire Fire takes a break from their 50-city headlining tour to open for Los Lobos at Centerpalooza. Like their aromatic namesake, Backyard Tire Fire have grown from a smoldering, localized slow burn to an insistent, overriding funky presence that’s spreading across the country. The band’s fifth studio album, Good To Be, spans the stylistic court with a rich, ever-expanding palette of aural rock ‘n’ roll colors and textures that tap into bouncy, Kinks-meet-Squeeze Brit pop-rock, Tom Petty-styled Southern rock, Beatle-esque majesty, intimate balladry, chiming folk-rock and heartland/populist chest-pounders. Steve Berlin of Los Lobos calls Backyard Tire Fire “one of America’s best young bands.”
The Mojo Daddies is a local band based in Lake County, Ill. that plays a mix of covers and original songs from rock to blues to pop. The band has been featured in a number of Chicago area fundraisers such as Avon Walk, Holy Cross Lutheran Church Youth Group and Feed My Starving Children. The Mojo Daddies recently released an album of original material, Back to Champaign.
