Based on Ken Kesey's landmark novel -- later made into the iconic, Oscar-winning movie starring Jack Nicholson -- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest follows Randle McMurphy, a small-time crook who fakes insanity to get out of a prison sentence. But instead of resting up at the state mental hospital, the rebellious yet charming McMurphy finds himself going toe-to-toe with the authoritarian Nurse Ratched as he attempts to stir up his fellow mental patients. The dynamics of live performance only heighten the tension between these two exquisitely drawn characters. Tough, touching and tragic, this American classic advocates poignantly for the dignity of every single person, no matter how "crazy" they might be. Learn More
Tonight at 11! starring Fritz Coleman returns to The Grove Theatre, located in historic downtown Upland. The Grove Theatre is proud to bring this highly acclaimed one man show to the Inland Empire. Fritz Coleman is well known as the smiling weatherman on Channel 4. He is a popular stand up comedian who has written and produced two other hit plays, It’s Me, Dad, for which he won the 1997 Artistic Director’s Award, and The Reception.
Tonight at 11!, under the direction of Robert Lyon Barker, tickles the funny bones and touches the heart by exposing the behind the scenes happenings at a fictional Los Angeles news station both on and off the air. He tackles such subjects as the coverage of natural disasters, commercial advertising and the influence television and news shows have on the public. He also makes you laugh at his jokes about reporting on weather in a state that has no weather, and turning light drizzle into a storm watch.
Coleman has been named “Best Weathercaster” in nearly every major paper in Southern California. A multiple Emmy Award winner, he devotes much of his free time to charitable activities and has also won a number of awards for his dedication to community service.
This is a show is not to be missed. It is scheduled for two weekends only.
