Jay Pharoah headlines Tommy T's Comedy House in Pleasanton. Pharoah's impressions of Eddie Murphy, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Will Smith, Kanye West, President Obama and many more celebrities have made him a breakout star on Saturday Night Live, which he joined in 2010, making him one of the youngest cast members in the show's history. Pharoah previously performed stand-up on BET's One Mic Stand and Charlie Murphy's Crash Comedy, alongside the Chappelle's Show star. We got 3 comics instead of 2. The first was adequate, the 2nd was better and the headliner, Andrew Norelli, was very good. He connected well with the audience and his impromptu was excellent. He asked questions of audience members and made excellent retorts. The theater had no heat, so wear a jacket. It was not uncomfortable. They sold drinks and you could park in their parking lot (room for about 30-40 cars). Location is near the end of the block, so if you miss it, you'll have to go around and come back. We missed it and had to go around and come back. It would help if they had a sign out front.
February 10, 2012: Andrew Norelli with Maggie Newcomb
Headliner Andrew Norelli’s high-energy observational comedy has been featured on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham. He’s also worked as a staff writer on TV’s _Comics Unleashed, _and toured across America, Canada and Australia.
The show also features Maggie Newcomb, who won the 2004 Battle of the Bay Comedy Competition and has toured the country as an opener for Darrell Hammond, Craig Ferguson and Harland Williams.
March 16*, 2012: Joe Klocek with Robin Cee
Joe Klocek is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy. Raised a midwesterner, so he has manners, but after living in San Francisco for 20 years, he thinks he’s better than you. Joe has appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, NBC’s Last Comic Standing and was a commentator for the Emmy award-winning documentary, A Bridge So Far. Joe has performed at every major comedy club in the country, including Alaska, and is a regular on the Bay Area comedy scene, where he was voted “Best Comedian” 2011 in SF Weekly‘s Reader’s Poll.
Robin Cee’s zany, high-energy act has been seen in numerous national commercials, and she’s performed across North America and Europe.
**April 13, 2012: Darren Carter with David Lew
Darren Carter has performed all over the world and is a favorite at some of the nation’s top clubs, including the Laugh Factory and the Hollywood Improv. After being spotted by Snoop Dogg for his dead-on impersonations of the rapper, he has performed multiple times at Snoop’s annual family reunion. He has appeared in the film Be Cool with John Travolta, as well as a string of TV appearances including Premium Blend, BET’s Comic View, The Tonight Show and Chelsea Lately.
