I took my daughter to this event last night and she had a blast. The rating is actually from my daughter who is 9 yrs old. For me, I would rate is as a 3-star only because I have not watched the movie and I am unfamiliar with the songs.
Will young love triumph over high school cliques? Find out during the performances of this smash-hit musical. Based on the original television movie phenomenon, the show includes all the songs from the best-selling soundtrack and an electrifying band, live on stage.
This Emmy Award-winning musical takes the classic tale of Romeo & Juliet and updates it with a modern spin. In addition to the timeless theme of love against the odds, the characters are faced with contemporary struggles of high school teens today: peer pressure, rivalries, friendships, and finding yourself.
At the center of the story are Troy Bolton, captain of the basketball team on the verge of a championship, and Gabriella Montez, a science brainiac who just transferred to the school. Both students struggle against conforming to their prescribed social cliques and decide to audition for the school play together. The seemingly innocent act sends ripples of change throughout East High as students from different social groups break their own status quos to pursue individual interests.
High School Musical has garnered worldwide praise and numerous awards, including Billboard’s Soundtrack Album of the Year (2006), as well as two equally popular sequels. The stage production at Wolf Trap features all the favorite characters and songs, with two brand new numbers and an electrifying live band.
