Benjamin Franklin and the Parisian Salon of Madame Brillon de Jouy
Music of Benjamin Franklin's Paris by Sylvia Berry on Pianoforte
Take a seat in the beautiful mansion at Gore Place, and listen as pianist Sylvia Berry performs music from Benjamin Franklin's magical days in Paris. On his 1776 trip to secure French support for the American war effort, Franklin made an unexpected find. To his surprise, one of the most important contacts he made was not a fellow diplomat or politician. It was a lady named Anne Louise Brillon de Jouy, who hosted salon gatherings attended by the wives of the elite. Against the backdrop of the beautiful mansion at Gore Place, Sylvia Berry will play the music of Franklin's Paris, recreating the magical atmosphere that delighted him on his visits to the salon.

The highlight of the festival is sure to be the crazy pumpkin drop, in which a crane will lift over 1000 pounds of pumpkins 120 feet into the air and let the load fly. There will also be food trucks, a beer tent, live music by the Merrimack River Bluegrass Band, antique cars and pumpkin catapults.
