Benjamin Franklin and the Parisian Salon of Madame Brillon de Jouy
Music of Benjamin Franklin's Paris by Sylvia Berry on Pianoforte
Take a seat in the beautiful mansion at Gore Place, and listen as pianist Sylvia Berry performs music from Benjamin Franklin's magical days in Paris. On his 1776 trip to secure French support for the American war effort, Franklin made an unexpected find. To his surprise, one of the most important contacts he made was not a fellow diplomat or politician. It was a lady named Anne Louise Brillon de Jouy, who hosted salon gatherings attended by the wives of the elite. Against the backdrop of the beautiful mansion at Gore Place, Sylvia Berry will play the music of Franklin's Paris, recreating the magical atmosphere that delighted him on his visits to the salon.

A popular tradition, the Sheepshearing Festival has been held every year since 1987, and once again…
I would recommend bringing a flashlight. It's dark walking up to the mansion and also wear flat shoes.
