Woolly's 35th season opens with a guillotine-sharp, contemporary-sounding satire that morphs into a real tragedy as it tells the true story of a fabulously wealthy, fashion-setting teenage drama queen whose last name could've well been Cyrus or Kardashian. But France's famed 18th-century monarch Marie Antoinette has her own issues dealing with fickle fame and fortune, especially as her once-loyal subjects begin to royally despise her in the midst of an economic downturn. Multi-award-winning playwright and Guggenheim fellow David Adjmi premiered his acclaimed work Stunning at Woolly, which welcomes him back, along with Woolly company member Kimberly Gilbert in the title role. I enjoyed the musical, but it was too long. Not a fan of the slow start and I think unnecessary first songs that don't aid the story. Men in the audience seemed to really enjoy some of the jokes. It's 3 hrs long and the seats are incredibly...continued
