Set in post-war New York, A View from the Bridge tells the tale of Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie Carbone, whose desire for his adult niece, Catherine, leads to disaster in his community and home. Composer William Bolcom collaborated closely with Arthur Miller to set View as an opera, a partnership that resulted in a truly memorable theatrical experience. Classic opera themes of love, loyalty and betrayal meld with Bolcom's masterful score—a veritable history of American musical culture, incorporating doo-wop, blues and American standards. The perfect opera for first-time attendees and operaphiles alike, A View from the Bridge offers a uniquely American operatic event unlike anything else you'll see this year.
