The 2014 film The Monuments Men, starring George Clooney, Matt Damon and Cate Blanchett, is the fascinating tale of an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. Now you can learn more about this real-life rescue mission and its unsung heros. Marc Masurovsky, co-founder of the Holocaust Art Restitution Project, Rafael Medoff, director of the David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies and L. Eden Burgess, attorney at Cultural Heritage Partners, LLC discuss the legacy of the Monuments Men -- actually a uniquely qualified group of men and women from 13 countries -- and the ongoing efforts to return stolen art to its rightful owners. The Cantor had a wonderful voice but Yiddish songs that I heard as a child were sung by ordinary people......so the words were more distinct and the melody more down to earth. There were at least three or four songs that I heard my Mother and Grandmother sing and that was most enjoyable. Overall a joyous evening of music. Thank you.
